Workshop ‘Gender-Innovationen? Geschlechter- und feministische Perspektiven in den Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften Gender Innovations? (Gender and Feminist Perspectives in the Social Sciences and Humanities)’, 25–26 April 2024, successfully held
How have feminist approaches and gender perspectives in the social sciences and humanities developed in German-speaking countries, and to what extent have feminist approaches and gender perspectives established themselves and are recognised in the relevant disciplines in today’s world? To discuss these questions, we invited participants to a digital workshop held on the 25th to 26th of April 2024, which was attended by 35 experts in the fields of sociology, political science, economics, history, and philosophy.
The workshop was split into five thematically-distinct panels. All participants attended a brief introduction to the underlying research project and the questions to be addressed by the workshop, as well as a concluding discussion.
The panels looked at aspects of feminist canon criticism and education in the relevant scientific disciplines, reflected on publishing writings on gender-related topics in specialist journals and book series dealing with women’s and gender studies, and discussed the significance of academic textbooks and introductory texts on gender issues. In addition, several academic organisations adressing gender issues founded by women were presented and their significance for the respective disciplines discussed. In the concluding discussion, it became apparent that very few scientific associations have even been requested to promote feminist perspectives in academia and gender equality measures, and those that have have only taken limited action.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the participants for their prepared contributions and lively discussions, which were very enriching!
